There are only two players who won poker’s Triple Crown – World Poker Tour (WPT) title; European Poker Tour (EPT) title and the World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet. Roland de Wolfe is the second man who gained the three titles when he won $5,000 Pot Limit Omaha 8 bracelet this year. He even wore a Union Jack track suit during the final table of the WSOP game to tell the world that he’s proud to be an Englishman.

The other poker pro who won the Triple Crown was Gavin Griffin. He is the first player who actually got this honor by winning the following events: winning the $3,000 Pot Limit Hold ‘Em at the WSOP in 2004, capturing the EPT Grand Final title in 2007 and succeeding in getting the title at the WPT Borgata classic in 2008.

De Wolfe got his first crown from winning the WPT Grand Prix De Paris in 2005; the second one from winning the EPT Dublin Title in 2006 and his last one from winning against 197 players including Griffin during the $5,000 PLO8 event at the WSOP 2009.

Once a contributor at a poker magazine called Edge, De Wolfe admitted that he’s really not familiar with the variety of poker that gave him his first WSOP bracelet. He just combined his knowledge of the PLO and Omaha 8 and came out triumphant.

Since 2005, De Wolfe has been a permanent face in the European and American poker scene. This started when he won the $1,000 NLHE event gaining his first WSOP cash. For the record, Roland didn’t get his highest pay from the three wins; he got it from the $25,000 WPT Championship event where he finished third and he took home at least a million.

The WSOP crown was his first win in the US soil but he has a great record in his preceding WSOP events including 14 WSOP cashes and at least $650,000 in WSOP earning throughout his career.

EPT is generating big numbers in the recent years and time is the only factor when the two member club will increase it numbers. The EPT tournaments happen to be popular today with a lot of top US players traveling to Europe to join its events.

Maybe in the near future the Aussie Millions and the Asian Pacific Poker Tour will be augmented to the EPT, WPT and WSOP to create a Grand Slam.
