One informal kind of proof has been shown during the 2009 WSOP which told us that top players not only triumph for an event but with several ones.

One famous player who won a number of bracelets was King of Stud Jeff Lisandro. He did not only conquer one tournament of Stud but a set of it including 7-Card-Stud, 7-Card-Stud-Hi/Lo and Razz.

But that feat is not a glitch because there are others who multiple events during the tournament. One would be Thang Luu, who managed to grab second place of the 2007 $2500 Omaha 8 tournament and conquering the same tournament in 2008 and he already defended the his title this year!

Since participants in poker tournament have swell since it started, it is most unlikely for a lone player to keep this kind of stand except when they have something vital against the swarm of their opponents.

And the evidences don’t end with these two players because there are still a lot of them worth mentioning.

Phil Ivey succeeds in getting his 6th and 7th bracelets. John Brock Parker won the 6-Max Limit and 6-Max No Limit Events. Another individual named Roland De Wolfe has managed to win the Triple Crown by winning a WSOP Event. He previously won the EPT and WPT events to complete the Triple Crown. Previous poker player Greg Mueller prevails in the $10k Limit Hold ‘Em tournament and the Limit Hold ‘Em shootout. 2 players have cashed in 7 events each in the WSOP and the would Daniel Negreanu and Barry Greenstein.

And all of this happened before the Main Event started, the Main Event being the most important tournament in poker. Well, if a pro will manage to gain a Main Event title then his reputation will be cemented in the poker community.

The 2009 WSOP is the year of the professional poker players no matter what the Main Event results will be. As soon as the poker war started you can lift your chin and say “On any given day, anyone can win.”

Just keep in mind that top players often do this while playing with amateurs: The poker pros displaying the amateurs the times where they comes out on top with one hand while concealing their bracelets behind their back with the other hand.

Don’t event think that a bookworm can be your friend because it will only spell out disaster. They might put you in a verge of craziness when they start teaching you and other players on how to play the game and telling all of you what’s right and what’s not. Their kind is really annoying. They are full of bad habits like criticizing someone when they made a bad play and laughing at their mistakes. The concerned player may wish to transfer at a friendlier table or will try to redeem himself by playing a lot better. It only means one thing, you should not worry about the ordinary skills that the bookworm may have but let your concern dwell on how they behave at the poker table.

Selectivity and Aggression

The bookworm has a compact game before flop. But their weakness would be seen at post-flop. This is due to the number of books they have read, a jumble of ideas in their head and will have concepts fighting to one another inside their minds to find them continue during post flop. Those poker players who wrote a book about poker have justified their weaknesses inside those books. So the bookworm will continue to base his game on these books and picked up all the weaknesses inside all of it. With this, you may expect that a bookworm will play a loose and too aggressive game during post flop.

And because the only aspect of poker wherein the general poker players agree would be the strength of your starting hand, then its the only part that the bookworm truly understands.

The type of play of the bookworm will fall in a partially aggressive manner. They are willing to bet but if someone plays along with them they will just call and call unless they are holding a the best hand in town.

Predictability

Yes, the bookworms know about deceptive plays as what they learn from the book. But they are nothing near to a deceptive player. Their style can be read clearly because they often use the same one.

Poker IQ

Speaking of Poker IQ, a bookworm has a low one. Yes, they know a lot about poker by reading their books but when its time to face a challenge at the poker table they are unable to adjust. The mistake they commit is that they follow their book like its the most right thing to do and they don’t know how to decide for themselves. However, those books are written in accordance to a general situation and nothing to specific ones because the author will not be aware of the current condition the reader is in. But despite all of this, the bookworm treat their books with utmost respect and follow its guideline on every game they play.

Bookworms will have a hard time comprehending the motives behind a player’s move. They expect that all players must follow what they do and those who don’t will be criticize and laugh at.

Adjustments

In order for you to defeat a bookworm, it is important that you become their “friend”. Then start up a talk with them and they will show you what they knew and will eventually brag about their game play.

But if ever they strike out your effort in befriending them then its time to put up your aggressiveness into play. Stay aggressive and don’t be afraid to bet against them if they will.
