Chum or Foe?

A calling station is the best friend of all friends in poker. They are the reality of dreams for an excellent poker player. They are very friendly and will literally hand out their money to their opponents easily.

They are basically allergic of money and will do anything to try getting rid of it. If you’re not that seasoned in poker you might assume that they are throwing it all purposely.

Selectivity and Aggressiveness

Calling stations are quietly summarized by their names. They nearly play all hands they are dealt with. They are passive players and will only get aggressive if they have the nuts in hand. But they can check with the nuts if they like their co-players and will do anything not to make a lousy atmosphere.

Calling stations are always hopeful; they only see potential and never want to see the outcomes. A large part of their population plays just for fun and the money they spend will be compared with a lazy night out with friends having to pay a very expensive dinner.

It only means that provided that they are going to gain amusement in playing it will be worth the money spent.

Predictability

Calling stations are very predictable poker players. At times, they may seem unpredictable by doing something uncommon for them like checking behind the nuts – however, this kind of play will be for their opponent’s advantage.

Poker IQ

This kind of poker personality has no IQ. They are not dumb nor they are lazy they just don’t care what the results of the game will be. They don’t want to waste their time playing good poker because they reason out that it’s boring. All they want is to be happy and then winning is just the second priority in line.

They just play their cards, see re-raising and betting as one and assume that a gut shot is an excellent draw.

They are one of the best opponents you should have at bay. But having multiple calling stations at your table can be quiet devastating.

Adjustments

An excellent means to deal with calling station is to make them happy and make certain that the other players make them happy too. So don’t let a Book Worm destroy the calm mood.

They are very learned players that can easily get back when challenged and you’ll be only amazed by their level of aptitude.

Don’t make them angry by blustering and showing off the winning you get from them. Just relax yourself, make thin value bets and let the money flow.

Ally or Foe?

If you’re thinking that a locksmith can be your friend, well all I can say is no they aren’t and they are not your enemies either. They are just a presence in the poker table that you cannot eliminate. They are like a lock made of ice because of their unwillingness to get involve and also one of the simplest opponent to take down. But playing with a locksmith will bring you little return due to the fact that they only play strong hands and you need to fold every time they raises a pot. But usually there are only there to sit and occupy the table.

Selectivity and Aggression

A locksmith only play a small percentage of the hands they are dealt about 10%. They will place money in the pot if they have a strong hand and have a habit to raise and re-raise if they have the best hand in the table. Be careful when dealing with them and stop betting if they raise you.

The locksmith is a very tight player who is willing to raise every hand he has and they are also passive poker players. This trait of passiveness can be attributed to their fear that they are not the ones who’s holding the best hand in the table. Yes, they are willing to put the beginning bet but they will hesitate eventually to re-raise if they don’t have the best card in the game.

How small is a 10% range? According to Hold ‘Em it would be a range of ATs+, AJo+, 88+. You wouldn’t see a locksmith turn over other than that range.

Predictability

The locksmith is very easy to predict by nature. They will not play any kind of deceptive plays because of the few numbers of hands they play. Too add up, the locksmith passivity will be their common weakness. You can also play with them when they raise the bet and you can actually defeat them when their passivity kicks in.

Poker IQ

Locksmiths are of different poker IQ. Some of them are playing the same game with every opponent with no changes whatsoever thinking that they only need the best hand in order to win. But some locksmith are more adept in the game and are willing to make certain changes in order to accommodate the skills of a particular opponent.

Free cards are often given by locksmiths. Avoid semi-bluffing and then take the chance to build your hand by taking those free cards.

The very first thing you should is to play without bothering to face the locksmith. But if you face them in the near future then it is advisable to play passively against them and desert all kind of passable deceptive drinks.

As you play the game of poker you will encounter different kind of personalities as you go along. Here are some of the most common profiles of poker players that you might come across.

Ally or Foe?

Don’t event think that a bookworm can be your friend because it will only spell out disaster. They might put you in a verge of craziness when they start teaching you and other players on how to play the game and telling all of you what’s right and what’s not. Their kind is really annoying. They are full of bad habits like criticizing someone when they made a bad play and laughing at their mistakes. The concerned player may wish to transfer at a friendlier table or will try to redeem himself by playing a lot better. It only means one thing, you should not worry about the ordinary skills that the bookworm may have but let your concern dwell on how they behave at the poker table.

Selectivity and Aggression

The bookworm has a compact game before flop. But their weakness would be seen at post-flop. This is due to the number of books they have read, a jumble of ideas in their head and will have concepts fighting to one another inside their minds to find them continue during post flop. Those poker players who wrote a book about poker have justified their weaknesses inside those books. So the bookworm will continue to base his game on these books and picked up all the weaknesses inside all of it. With this, you may expect that a bookworm will play a loose and too aggressive game during post flop.

And because the only aspect of poker wherein the general poker players agree would be the strength of your starting hand, then its the only part that the bookworm truly understands.

The type of play of the bookworm will fall in a partially aggressive manner. They are willing to bet but if someone plays along with them they will just call and call unless they are holding a the best hand in town.

Predictability

Yes, the bookworms know about deceptive plays as what they learn from the book. But they are nothing near to a deceptive player. Their style can be read clearly because they often use the same one.

Poker IQ

Speaking of Poker IQ, a bookworm has a low one. Yes, they know a lot about poker by reading their books but when its time to face a challenge at the poker table they are unable to adjust. The mistake they commit is that they follow their book like its the most right thing to do and they don’t know how to decide for themselves. However, those books are written in accordance to a general situation and nothing to specific ones because the author will not be aware of the current condition the reader is in. But despite all of this, the bookworm treat their books with utmost respect and follow its guideline on every game they play.

“Hey, BOOKWORMS You’re playing poker not building a desk, you can’t just follow instructions!”

Bookworms will have a hard time comprehending the motives behind a player’s move. They expect that all players must follow what they do and those who don’t will be criticize and laugh at.

Adjustments

In order for you to defeat a bookworm, it is important that you become their “friend”. Then start up a talk with them and they will show you what they knew and will eventually brag about their game play.

But if ever they strike out your effort in befriending them then its time to put up your aggressiveness into play. Stay aggressive and don’t be afraid to bet against them if they will.
